  Tips For Women

Improve your short game

Play some rounds using just your mid-range or putter. You will be amazed at what you can achieve, and it will alter your perception of holes (you might wonder how you ever bogey). Top pro women have solid short games, often picking up strokes with the approach or putt. Lose the high-speed discs to throw you approach shots. The shot error is too great when compared to the slow, forgiving mid-range or putter. The key is to use the least amount of disc for the shot at hand.

Know your own game

Look for shots with the least resistance. Play with or come watch the pro women players negotiate a course during a tournament. Course management is a key component to shooting consistent rounds. If you smack a tree off the tee, I would tell you to work for the easy 4 with hopes of making a long putt for the bonus save 3. If you get yourself in trouble, understand it will take two good shots to save it. Do not try to throw the miracle-shot save. This mentality taxes you and accumulates strokes. Good players are smart players, and they work hard not to throw strokes away based on silly choices.

Get aggressive with drives

Women derive their power from their legs and hips. Even though a woman looks smooth on the tee, she is still exploding through her form. Disc golf is a game of timing and technique. That means every woman can experience power for her body type. Watch others with similar builds to see how they have incorporated the power source of legs and hips. If we throw with just our arms, we are losing out on using our assets of having a lower center of gravity, better flexibility and a strong core.
